But does anyone with a 2015 Mustang GT or EB have an Airaid intake with dyno figures?
They didn’t bother to post any. Probably, I’m guessing, because they couldn’t squeeze any more horses out. That begs the question of why they’re selling it in the first place. Neither K&N nor AFE offer intakes for either.
And that begs the broader question of HOW THE CRAP I’M SUPPOSED TO SELL THIS PUNK. I mean, why would anyone spend $350 on a CAI that doesn’t improve your HP?

You just say it does and blame any discrepancy on drivetrain loss / dyno accuracy.
“this CAI dropped my power by 3 HP from factory!”
“Oh well every dyno is different you know..”

I know this is a debate best left to the car forums, but I was under the impression it was yet to be proven that any CAIs give any statistically significant boost in performance without a tune.
Flamesuit on.

I’m not so much concerned about whether they actually do or not. I want to know if anyone is reporting that they do. Usually when I hype an intake, I can go to knfilters.com and say “It gives you 12 hp over stock,” because K&N posts the before/after dyno charts right there on their site. Is it true? Who knows. Will you see that performance everyday? Ain’t care. K&N says so, so you can go crying to them if you only see 11 hp.
But if I claim numbers on the Airaid and people don’t make them, they come crying to me.

I get that. Probably just need a little more time for people to buy and publish dyno sheets. For what it’s worth, I appreciate CAI more from an induction noise and aesthetic point of view. They really tend to clean up the engine bay.

Yeah, but for the aesthetics, I’d just buy a Chinese knockoff. If you get the good stuff, they really do improve power, or so the dynos say.

From a performance point of view, I think most decrease in restriction comes from subbing in a high-flow filter. The intake tubing is too short and wide that any difference in pressure drop is negligible. The car is still drawing air from either under the hood, or from the stock ram-air port in the grill. Any increase in airflow from a CAI could be replicated by putting in a K&N filter and taking the lid off your airbox.
Plus, its not like the guys running the dyno adhere to good statistical sampling practices. Say you drive to the shop, do a trial dyno run, install the CAI, then run again at later in the day when your car is cooler and the air temp is 15 degrees lower. Then you blow a fan on the intercooler (if you have FI) when you do the run. You could easily see a few HP right there.
The point is, don’t worry about the HP figures. They don’t mean anything and don’t let keep you from doing the mods that you want on your car.

You can make more power with one but the fords use torque targeting so the system will find its way back to stock power without a tune, but stock with tune vs intake with tune you'll make more power. Focus is the same way.

They certainly don’t mean anything if you’re an owner. But if you’re a seller, they mean the world.

You might see if anyone at FF has one tonight:

Unfortunately, tonight is too late. Also unfortunately, I can’t make it tonight. I wish I’d known sooner. I would have planned things differently. Are you in KC? Did Kevin talk to you about the meetup tomorrow?

Moved back to KC about two years ago. Sadly leaving for an out of town wedding tonight so I will miss FF#1 and the meetup; probably just as well since FF can get pretty rowdy sometimes.

Well, there’s a Cars and Coffee on May 30, so maybe we can hang then.
